Wellbeing & Safeguarding
At Ash Mount School, wellbeing and safeguarding are at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our vision to Learn with Purpose, Live with Compassion and Lead with Courage, we create an environment where every child feels safe, known, valued and able to flourish.
Wellbeing Every Day
We believe children learn best when they feel happy, confident and connected. Wellbeing is woven throughout school life, from the relationships we build and the way we teach, to our pastoral care, House system, enrichment opportunities and everyday interactions.
Through My Happy Mind in Primary and My Mind Coach in Secondary, children develop confidence, resilience, self-awareness and positive relationships, giving them the skills to thrive both in school and beyond.
A Culture of Care
Every child is known by the adults around them. Our dedicated pastoral, wellbeing and inclusion teams work alongside teachers to ensure children feel supported, celebrated and listened to throughout their journey at Ash Mount School.
Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a culture where children feel secure, respected and confident to speak up. Robust safeguarding procedures, comprehensive staff training and strong partnerships with families ensure that every child is protected and supported.
Our Approach to Wellbeing
We believe that when students feel safe, supported, and valued, they thrive. Our strategic wellbeing model focuses on five interconnected domains designed to nurture confident, balanced, and resilient learners. These elements are integrated into everything we do from our curriculum and pastoral care to our House system, service projects, and community partnerships. From Early Years to Senior School, every child is known, noticed, and nurtured.

Working in Partnership
Wellbeing is strongest when schools and families work together. Through regular communication, parent workshops, check-ins and collaborative planning, we build trusted relationships that enable every child to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
At Ash Mount School, wellbeing is not an initiative, it is part of who we are.

Our Safeguarding Approach
All staff undergo robust background checks and safe recruitment procedures.
A Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and a team of trained safeguarding officers across all phases of the school.
Regular safeguarding training ensures everyone is well-prepared to respond effectively.
Our curriculum teaches students to stay safe, build relationships, recognise risks, and protect boundaries.
Every member of our community shares responsibility for safeguarding. All staff receive regular training and understand their role in protecting children, promoting wellbeing and responding promptly to any concerns.
A Culture of Care
We work in close partnership with families and, where appropriate, external agencies to ensure that concerns are addressed quickly, sensitively and professionally. By creating an environment where children feel listened to, valued and supported, they are free to focus on their learning, their wellbeing and their personal growth.
If you have any concerns about the safety or wellbeing of a child, please contact a member of our safeguarding team immediately.
Together, we are creating a school where every child is known, heard and protected, a place where they can truly Learn with Purpose, Live with Compassion and Lead with Courage.
