Environmental Education
Aligned with UAE Vision 2071
Inquiry-Based Learning Connected to Real World Climate Goals
Sustainability and Environmental Learning
At Ash Mount School, we believe education must go beyond academic success, it must instil in students the values, habits, and awareness needed to care for our planet and build a sustainable future. Guided by our mission to Learn with Purpose, Live with Compassion, Lead with Courage, sustainability is woven into our curriculum, campus design, and community action.
Wadi Gardens, Vertical Farming & Hydroponics
Inspired by the UAE’s agricultural heritage and future sustainability goals, our gardens and growing zones serve as living classrooms. Students explore soil health, irrigation, food security, and climate resilience through hands-on inquiry.
From layered Wadi-style planters to hydroponics and vertical farming, these spaces connect science, design, and responsibility, helping students grow not just food, but understanding, empathy, and action.
Environmental Education Aligned with UAE Vision 2071
Environmental learning at Ash Mount is not an add-on, it is integrated into inquiry-driven learning across all stages.
Even the school’s infrastructure becomes part of the learning journey, with energy-efficient materials, shaded courtyards, and water collection systems offering tangible examples of sustainable living.
Aligned with UAE Vision 2071 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, students make
local connections to global ambitions:
- Early learners explore food sources, plant care, and the
basics of environmental responsibility. - Older students tackle deeper issues such as
desertification, renewable energy, carbon footprints, and
sustainable urban design.
Through this approach, learners develop a conceptual understanding of climate action, while strengthening critical thinking, collaboration, and cross-disciplinary problem-solving.
Sustainability Through the SPIRE Wellbeing Framework
Our environmental programme is deeply connected to the school’s wellbeing model, BASED on the SPIRE framework:
Social
Building community and teamwork through shared environmental goals.
Purposeful
Giving students authentic opportunities to make a meaningful difference.
Intellectual
Deepening understanding through real-world
application.
Resilient
Building community and teamwork through shared environmental goals.
Emotional
Promoting balance, mindfulness, and connection through nature learning.
With Open Minds and Dirty Hands
At Ash Mount School, we nurture both hearts and minds. Whether planting basil, parsley and coriander in a hydroponic tower or presenting an energy-saving proposal to the leadership team, our students are empowered to act as stewards of the future.
For us, sustainability is not a subject, it is a mindset. Through our gardens, curriculum, and actions, we are cultivating learners who will not only know how to protect the planet, but who will be deeply inspired to do so.
