Ash Mount follows an international framework, aligned with the standards of the English National
Curriculum and enriched with inquiry-led and concept-based approaches. This balance ensures
children benefit from international best practice while gaining strong foundations in core subjects.

We know some children may not have experienced inquiry-led learning before. Teachers guide them
carefully, helping them adapt to exploring, questioning, and collaborating. Students learning English
as an additional language also receive targeted support.

Our framework is holistic: it combines the rigour of English National Curriculum standards with
international, inquiry-led approaches. Students grow academically and personally, developing as
compassionate, reflective, and responsible individuals.

Inquiry-led learning encourages children to ask questions, investigate ideas, and apply their
knowledge to real-world issues. Rather than memorising facts, students learn how to think, explore,
and make connections across different subjects.

  • Early and Primary Years (Pre-KG to Grade 5): Children explore global themes such as Who We Are and How the World Works. Literacy, numeracy, and science are underpinned by English National Curriculum standards, while learning is expanded through inquiry.
  • Middle Years (Grades 6–10): Students study eight broad subject areas – languages, sciences, humanities, mathematics, arts, design, and physical education – with English National Curriculum standards supporting progression, and projects that bring subjects together.
  • Senior Years (Grades 11–12): Older students select pathways across languages, sciences, humanities, arts, and mathematics, alongside extended research and community service. This ensures both academic rigour and readiness for higher education.

English is the main language of instruction. In line with UAE requirements, Arabic is compulsory for
all students. Additional languages such as French or Spanish are introduced to give students a
broader international perspective.

All students study Arabic, Islamic Education (for Muslim students), UAE Social Studies, and Moral
Education. These ensure children remain rooted in the culture and values of the UAE while gaining a
global outlook.

The framework is internationally benchmarked and aligned with English National Curriculum
standards, equipping students with strong subject foundations as well as skills in research, analysis,
and communication. Universities worldwide value these qualities, and our guidance team supports
each student in finding their pathway.

Assessment & Benchmarking

Assessment is continuous and varied, giving every child the chance to demonstrate their learning in different ways through projects, portfolios, performances, and written work. English National Curriculum standards provide structure and progression.

In addition, we use internationally recognised benchmark assessments to track progress and personalise support:

  • Early Years & Lower Primary: Developmental and language readiness checks, including WellComm screening in the Early Years. Teachers also track progress against age-related standards.
  • Upper Primary (Grades 3–5): GL Assessments including CAT4 (Cognitive Abilities Test), Progress Tests in English, Mathematics and Science, and reading and maths screening through NGRT and NGMT.
  • Middle Years (Grades 6–10): Continuous assessment across all subjects alongside GL Progress Tests. In Grade 9, students complete externally moderated assessment in English, Mathematics, Sciences, Humanities, Interdisciplinary Learning, Languages, Physical & Health Education, Arts, and Design. These provide internationally recognised certification and ensure challenge across a broad curriculum.
  • Senior Years (Grades 11–12): Students undertake extended essays, research, and externally benchmarked assessments that prepare them for entry to leading universities worldwide.

Together, these assessments give a full picture of each child’s progress, supporting teachers and families in guiding their next steps in learning.

We reflect the UAE’s Vision 2071 and Dubai’s Education 33 strategy by focusing on innovation,
inclusion, sustainability, and student wellbeing. At Ash Mount, children are encouraged to learn with
purpose, live with compassion and lead with courage.
