Dear Ash Mount Community,
As September comes to an end, so too does our New Beginnings theme. Over the past few weeks, we’ve thought together about the start of term, the friendships that shape school life, and the routines that give children security. Today, I’d like to widen the lens to the students who have just begun university, and to those who are choosing schools for the years ahead.
Around the world, students who graduated last summer are now settling into their first term at university. While courses and start dates vary, many UK and European universities are opening their doors right now. These moments remind us that education is a journey, one where every step matters. For families, choosing the right pathway involves considering not only courses and destinations but also the environment where young people will live and grow.
For students in Grade 12 this year, the university application process is well under way. Decisions made now will shape next autumn, just as admissions have opened here in the UAE for families choosing or moving schools. At Ash Mount, we are excited to be part of this cycle of beginnings; admissions for August 2026 are now open, and it has been wonderful to meet families who are already applying. If you’d like to know more, please reach out to us at admissions@ashmount.ae. We’d love to be part of the next step in your child’s learning journey.
So how do families choose the right school?
There is no single answer, because every child’s needs, and every family’s priorities, are unique. In early years, it might be about nurturing and play. In primary, strong foundations and curiosity. In secondary, pathways, extracurricular opportunities, and the culture of the school become increasingly important. For post-16, qualifications and university preparation take centre stage. What matters most is that families feel confident in their choice and that children feel happy, safe, and inspired to learn.
As we close September, our focus shifts towards October and a new theme: Designed today, preparing students for tomorrow. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about how Ash Mount has been shaped with the future in mind from our learning spaces and sustainability choices to the curriculum and values that will equip children for life beyond school.
For now, I wish you a lovely weekend as we look ahead together, not only to a new month, but to the many exciting beginnings still to come.
Warm regards,
Abigail Fishbourne
