Ash Mount School

Every Child. Every Voice.

In what ways can teachers and families work together to ensure every learner feels seen, supported, and valued?

Dear Ash Mount Community,

Welcome to a month that celebrates connection, belonging, and the individuality of every learner.
Our November Voices of Ash Mount theme, Every Child. Every Voice., focuses on what sits at the very heart of education our belief that every child deserves to be known, valued, and heard.

Throughout November, we will explore how we bring this belief to life at Ash Mount – how learning, wellbeing, and partnership with families come together to ensure every learner is truly understood. Each week we will look at a different dimension of this idea:

  • Week 1: In what ways can teachers and families work together to ensure every learner feels seen, supported, and valued?
  • Week 2: How do we help children take ownership of their learning?
  • Week 3: How do we nurture curiosity and the courage to ask “Why?”
  • Week 4: How do we help children reflect and connect learning to the real world?

In what ways can teachers and families work together to ensure every learner feels seen, supported, and valued?

At Ash Mount, we believe that education begins with relationships. Every child deserves to be known not only for their academic strengths, but for their interests, character, and story. When children feel recognised and listened to, they develop a deep sense of belonging and confidence. That sense of belonging is where meaningful learning begins.

Great schools are communities built on partnership. Teachers and families each hold part of the picture that helps us understand a child’s learning journey. By sharing observations, celebrating successes, and discussing challenges openly, we ensure that every learner feels supported and valued.

Understanding our students also means using data and insight thoughtfully — not to categorise, but to clarify. Assessment, observation, and conversation allow us to build a complete picture of each learner so that learning can be personalised, challenging, and compassionate.

When a school listens to its learners, something remarkable happens: students begin to listen to themselves. They find their voice, express their ideas, and start to see themselves as active contributors to their learning.

Next week, I’ll be having dinner with Matthew Savage CEO of The Mona Lisa Effect to continue our conversations about how schools can use data in humane and intelligent ways to notice what might otherwise go unseen and to make sure that every learner has the support they need to thrive.

Every Child. Every Voice. is more than a theme for us; it is our commitment. It shapes how we teach, how we design learning spaces, and how we connect as a community. Every child will be known by name and story; every voice will be heard; every learner will be encouraged to learn with purpose, live with compassion, and lead with courage.

Best wishes,

Principal’s Full Message

At Ash Mount, we deliver a curriculum grounded in an international framework, enriched by the local and global context of the UAE, and aligned with national priorities, including UAE Vision 2071. This education balances rigour with joy, inquiry with structure, and academic success with wellbeing and student voice. Every child will be challenged, supported, and celebrated, developing as inquirers, leaders, and change-makers. I have had the privilege of opening and leading schools both across the region and internationally. Each of those experiences has deepened my belief in the power of partnership: between students, staff, families, and the wider community. At Ash Mount, we are creating a culture where people are valued, voices are heard, and ideas flourish. Our open-door philosophy reflects our commitment to being a school where relationships come first.

Ash Mount School is proudly part of the Interstar family of schools — a group recognised for excellence, innovation, and a strong commitment to the communities they serve. Ash Mount builds on that legacy while creating something distinctly its own: a school with heart, ambition, and a bold sense of purpose.

Thank you for considering Ash Mount School. We look forward to welcoming you and your family as we shape something extraordinary together.
